65 Players Make 2019 KCB Karen Masters Cut

Nine Kenyan players are among 65 golfers who made The Cut at the 2019 KCB Karen Masters; and will now battle it out for the top share of the KShs 15.7 million prize kitty that is up for grabs. This is the highest number of Kenyans to have ever made The Cut at the KCB Karen Masters.

Among the Kenyans who have made The Cut include The Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort’s elite amateur, Simon Njogu, who emerged the only elite amateur to be taking part in the last 36 holes of the tournament.

Others include Golf Park’s David Wakhu, who returned a 2-under par score for the day for a total of 5-under par leaving him tied in 13th place; the highest ranked Kenyan going into the final two rounds. Muthaiga Golf Club’s Greg Snow, who finished round one as the highest ranked Kenyan at the tournament, posted a 2-over par score today for a total of 3-under par for the tournament.

His decent score from the past two rounds leaves him tied in 23rd place alongside fellow Kenyan, Jeff Kubwa, who played another solid round of 71 today for a total of 3-under par 141.

Thika’s Simon Ngige returned a decent 2-under par 142 score to finish tied in 34th ahead of veteran golfer, Dismas Indiza, who ended round two tied in 46th with a 1-under par score for the tournament. Meanwhile, Windsor’s Rizwan Charania, Sigona’s C.J. Wangai and Great Rift’s Jastas Madoya all finished round two with overall scores of level par to make the cut.

At the same time, four players, Stephen Ferreira (-16), Toto Thimba (-13), JC Ritchie (-11) and Garrick Higgo (-10) ended the round with double figure under par scores; underpinning the competitiveness with which players have approached this year’s tournament.

Action for Round Three of the tournament gets underway tomorrow at 7:40am when Jastas Madoya, who will be playing without a partner, will tee off. The leading duo of Toto Thimba and Stephen Ferreira will tee off at 12:45pm at the first tee.
