China, officially the People’s Republic of China (PRC), is a unitary sovereign state in East Asia. With a population of over 1.381 billion, it is the world’s most populous country. China is currently Africa’s largest trading partner. It has long-standing relations in Africa. In 2009, China surpassed the US as Africa’s largest trading partner. Agricultural trade has been growing between China and Africa. During this trip we attended the 124th canton fair phase one. This is the largest Import and Export Fair in the world with over 25,000 exhibitors and over 250,000 buyers.

• We officially launched the Union pay card in October 2018 at the Canton fair. The event was graced by Mr. Larry Wang- Vice president, Zhang Luping –General Manager Africa branch, Asad Burney- Regional Head North and East Africa from union pay international.  Our Board member Njeri Onyango, Director Retail A.C Kimtai and Dennis Njau head of channels also spoke at the event. KCB is proud to be the first bank to launch the first Belt and Road Card and also travel mate card in the region. This will allow for seamless transacting between the two countries.
• Canton Fair Phase 1, focuses on electrical and electronic products, vehicles, building materials, and industrial, chemical products. Most of China’s latest high-tech products are in the first phase of the Canton Fair. It has the largest number of deals and buyers of 3 phases. • We shall also visit the markets in the city of Guangzhou, China for products such as textile and Leather products, Electronics and Household Electrical Appliances, Rubber products and Garments, Light Industrial Products For Daily Use ,Building and Construction Materials and machineries.
