Standard Requirements

Receive Money

In order to receive money you will need to:

  • Visit a KCB branch near to you
  • Complete the Receive Money form
  • Give the form to the Teller with your government issued photo ID and the tracking number (MTCN)
  • Review and sign the receipt
  • The Teller will give you the money and a copy of the receipt.

Send Money

In order to send money you will need to:

  • Visit a KCB branch near to you
  • Complete the Send Money form
  • Give the Teller the completed form with the applicable funds (including transaction fee and tax).
  • The Teller may ask for additional information (your government-issued photo ID, receiver’s name, payout country, test question/answer (where applicable).
  • Review and sign the receipt.
  • Save the receipt and share the tracking number (MTCN) with your receiver for pick-up

Account-Based Money Transfer (ABMT)

Receive money directly into your KCB Account from Western Union by simply:

  1. Visiting any of KCB’s 180 branches country-wide; or
  2. Call the 24-hour KCB Contact Centre.

Both the Teller at branch and Agent at the Contact Centre will ask you a few questions to verify your account details after which funds will be transferred to your KCB account.

To receive money via ABMT at either branch or Contact Centre, you will be required to provide the following information:

  • MTCN
  • Funds must be sent with customer’s First & Last name which must match with Account Name
  • Sender’s name
  • Amount expected (in Kenya Shillings)
  • Country of origin of funds

Rates and Fees

  • Check with the Teller for the latest fees for funds transfer. The collection of money is free of charge for the receiver.

  • Present a valid government-issued photo ID, the completed Send Money form and money to be sent (plus fee and tax). The Teller may ask for additional information to complete the money transfer.

  • Share the 8-digit Reference Number with your receiver for easy pick-up.

Receive Money

In order to receive money you will need to:

  • Visit a KCB branch near to you
  • Present a valid government-issued photo ID, the completed Receive Money form, MoneyGram Reference number, sender’s details and expected receive amount.
  • Review and sign the receipt
  • Receive your money (usually in local currency)

  • Completed Receive Money Form which includes XPIN Number, sender’s/Receivers details and expected Amount and present it to the teller together with a valid government-issued photo ID,
  • Review and sign the receipt
  • Teller presents the customer with the money (usually in local currency) and a receipt.
