Applications Support Engineer

The role is to ensure the 24/7 stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the Software Systems and appliances that support core business, through proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments for the entire KCB Group.

Key Responsibilities; -

• Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for assigned programs. Recommend, develop and administer policies and procedures. Recommend, within divisional policy, appropriate service and staffing levels.
• Implement system changes through automation, process changes, management solutions and training.
• Conduct diagnostic investigations of system errors and implement or recommend solutions or methodologies for resolution. Consult with vendors regarding system functionality.
• Prepare various documentation including project reports, process and user manuals, presentations, strategic and technical plans and other related information on assigned application analyses.
• Develops risk management procedures, business continuance scenarios, contingency and disaster recovery plans for central and distributed systems and networks to maintain operations during downtime and/or major disasters. Identifies and makes recommendations regarding critical points of failure.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for business continuance and disaster recovery plans. Proactive in building processes to minimize/eliminate downtime.
• Responsible for researching, developing and implementing testing methods and procedures. Ensure that products meet the highest quality standards. Monitors and reports on defects.
• Review proposed systems software for compliance with applicable quality assurance standards before acquisition or implementation.

The Person
For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology or information systems or related is required.
• Professional Qualifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals /Azure Administrator Associate/Microsoft 365 Certified/ITIL is required.
• Professional Qualifications: LINUX Administration is required.
• Professional Qualifications: Database Management is added advantage.
• Master’s degree in management / IT Related will be an Added Advantage.
• 2 years’ work experience, with at least:
 2 years’ experience in Operational characteristics of a variety of computer platforms and operating systems in banking applications is essential.
 2 years’ experience in Applications technical support is essential.
 2 years’ experience in Operational characteristics, services and activities of an information systems and analysis program.
 2 years' experience in Principles and practices of application software installation and support.
 1 years’ experience in basic budgeting, contracting, purchasing practices, policies and procedures.
 2 years’ experience in methods and techniques used in the installation, administration, monitoring, upgrading and problem resolution of central application software systems.
 2 years’ experience in principles and procedures of quality assurance and security related to complex, large computer systems and applications.
 2 years' experience in principles and practices of application development and troubleshooting.
 2 years' experience in effective analysis, communication, presentation and customer relationship skills.
 2 years' experience in principles and practices of project management and administration.
 2 years’ experience in knowledge of relevant industry (banking) practice.
 2 years' experience in principles of contract negotiation and administration.
