Reporting to the Director, Corporate Banking, the role is responsible for driving the Client Coverage strategy, business growth, profitability, and market share within Corporate Banking. The position provides strategic leadership across key sectors including Infrastructure & Energy, Oil & Gas, FMCG, Industrials, Financial Services, and Regional Corporate Banking. The role focuses on enhancing client value propositions, deepening customer relationships, delivering innovative financial solutions, maximizing share of wallet, and leading Sector Heads to achieve sustainable revenue growth while ensuring strong risk management and portfolio quality.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement the Client Coverage strategy aligned to Corporate Banking objectives.
• Drive achievement of revenue, profitability, asset, liability, fee income, and client growth targets.
• Lead Sector Heads in delivering tailored client solutions, value propositions, and customer journeys.
• Foster strong relationships with key corporate clients, stakeholders, and decision-makers across sectors.
• Partner with Product, Risk, and other business units to deliver integrated multi-product solutions and seamless client experiences.
• Oversee deal origination, execution, syndication, and implementation of strategic client plans.
• Drive cross-selling opportunities and maximize wallet share across existing and prospective clients.
• Ensure high-quality credit proposals, sound portfolio management, and adherence to risk, credit, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain portfolio quality within approved NPL and PAR thresholds while strengthening risk controls.
• Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance client experience and mitigate emerging risks.
• Lead, develop, and manage the Client Coverage team, including talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, and capability development.
• Promote a high-performance culture aligned with KCB Group values, policies, and people’s agenda.
The Person
• Hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
• Professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA, AKIB) Sales/Marketing
• Postgraduate and or Banking qualifications will be an added advantage
• 10 Years’ relevant experience in corporate banking, banking operations, customer service
• 6 Years Senior management position heading a revenue growth department within Corporate Banking
• 3 Years strong track record in business development and business networking which should be clearly demonstrated at senior relationship manager/Business Development position
• 5 Years team leadership/Superior people management skills
• Strong business acumen in both the banking industry and Corporate/Institutional space
• Track record of attaining targets of business growth and profitability in the financial services and banking sector.
• Have appreciation and operating knowledge of the banking industry, market, trends as well as challenges.
• Demonstrable cross-cultural relationship management skills, networking and negotiation skills, team motivation and leadership competence.
• Sound understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements of corporate governance, business and banking operations
• Effective communication-Excellent oral and written communication skills (Particularly Credit Reports and Business presentations)
• Knowledge of the Bank’s lending principles, policies and procedures
• Awareness of risk management concepts and practices.
