Senior Relationship Manager, KCB Corporate Trustee

The Senior Relationship Manager – Trust Funds is responsible for the effective management, administration, and growth of a portfolio of corporate and family trust funds.

This role ensures that all trust structures are administered in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory frameworks, as well as KCB policies and procedures, while delivering exceptional client service and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for trust clients, beneficiaries, and stakeholders, providing advisory support on trust structures and fiduciary services
• Build and maintain strong relationships with settlors, beneficiaries, and professional advisers to effectively meet client needs and fulfil trust objectives
• Manage the full client lifecycle, from onboarding through to ongoing portfolio reviews, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention
• Drive the financial performance and growth of the trust portfolio, including revenue generation, billing, and collections
• Execute trustee responsibilities in a timely manner, including distributions, reporting, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with trust deeds and fiduciary obligations
• Maintain up-to-date client and beneficiary information to support sound fiduciary decision-making
• Ensure all trusts are administered in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies and procedures
• Conduct regular compliance, KYC, and AML reviews, and ensure timely resolution of identified issues
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with trust services, ensuring continuous audit readiness
• Support internal and external audits, including timely closure of audit findings
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities in collaboration with internal teams, including Retail and Corporate Banking
• Prepare periodic portfolio reports, client updates, and management reports
• Coordinate and facilitate trust meetings, including preparation of documentation and effective stakeholder communication
• Attend client meetings and deliver presentations as required
• Uphold high standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct in all engagements
• Contribute to team development through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and continuous self-development
• Undertake any other duties as may be assigned

The Ideal Candidate: Academic, Professional & Experience:

Academic and Professional Qualifications
• A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university is required.
• Professional certification as a Certified Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) or qualification in CISI – Wealth Management is mandatory.
Professional Experience
• A minimum of eight (8) years’ relevant work experience is required.
• At least five (5) years’ demonstrable experience in:
o Management of trust funds, fiduciary services, private banking, or wealth management portfolios;
o Operating within applicable regulatory frameworks, including but not limited to RBA, CMA, IRA, and the Trustees Act;
o Business development, including preparation of tenders and structured business proposals.
• A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in relationship management within a relevant financial or professional services environment.
Technical Knowledge and Expertise
• Demonstrated strong understanding of investment, pension, and insurance products within the Kenyan market.
• In-depth knowledge of trust structures, estate planning, and fiduciary obligations.
