Karan Patel has etched his name in the motorsport history books as one of the best rally drivers in the continent, creating a legacy that will shape the future of motorsports in Kenya and beyond.
Born and raised near the ocean, the Jet-Ski enthusiast commonly known as ‘Toto Moto’ within the rallying cycles developed an interest in the sport when he first got into a dirt bike racing. Since then, the rest as they say is history! Karan, who is navigated by his longtime friend Tauseef Khan is not only making major forays in the world of sports, but he also has an impressive academic background, the speedster is a Licensed Aircraft Engineer and a Certified Level 2 NDT Aerospace inspector.
His rise to the apex of motorsport has been attributed to his father’s influence, a veteran in the sport. He once invited him to a rally event and challenged him to finish his degree before he could consider sitting behind the wheels. That is exactly what he did and since then, he has dominated the sport.
Throughout his career, Karan Patel has achieved a lot of things including the 2005 East Africa Motorcross Championship, 2022 Kenya National Rally Champion, 2022 Motorsport Personality of the Year, 2023 Africa Rally Champion among other accolades feted by various organizations in recognition of his prowess in local, regional, and international events.
