Business Development Manager

The job holder is responsible for driving resource mobilization for the KCB Foundation through the development, preparation and submission of high-quality proposals and concept papers, as well as pitches and presentations. This role is accountable for identifying opportunities for program funding, scanning the funding environment for new funding opportunities and where applicable, gathering, and synthesizing information about prospective implementing partners. The job holder also supports program managers with proposal development to ensure repeat business with donors. The job calls for a self-starter with demonstrable abilities to build bridges and alliances within and outside the organization to effectively carry out the job.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide leadership in institutional resource mobilization and fund raising across KCB Foundation, regional offices including subsidiaries.
  2. Development and submission of high-quality fundraising proposals, concept papers and pitch presentations to donors and other funding partners.
  3. Scope and identify opportunities for funding, Coordination of efforts and knowledge management aimed at winning new business.
  4. Maintain an informatics system that monitors and updates on the funding and opportunity pipeline, and lead pipeline and information management to drive informed decisions on future opportunities.
  5. Review proposals and pitch materials for compliance and soundness with donor requirements as well as adherence to KCB Foundation and Group policies and procedures.
  6. Support programs and business units to develop and implement resource mobilization strategies.
  7. Provide technical training and capacity building to countries, staff and project implementation teams on resource mobilization, intelligence gathering, proposal writing to develop high quality proposals.
  8. Liaise with partnerships and policy and advocacy teams, working together to engage critical stakeholders and generate leads for new/enhanced program funding. 

The Person

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Any field
  • Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • Professional certificate in Program management/Communication/Development will be an added advantage.
  • 8 years in donor fundraising.
  • 8 years in Donor engagement & management.
  • 5 years developing proposals, concepts note, and idea note development and preparation.
  • 5 years in Program development.
  • 4 years in Partnership Management.
  • 3 years in research.
  • 2 years in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Track record of raising at least Ksh 1B annually.
