Lawrence holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree from Kenyatta University and is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPA-K). He has over 20 year’s senior management experience in business strategy, finance, commercial, audit and accounting. He worked at Standard Media Group Kenya Limited as Assistant Group Commercial Director and also served as Group Financial Controller in the same Group. Prior to this, he worked as a senior auditor at KPMG East Africa.

1. The Government of Kenya acquired 100% shareholding in National and Grindlays Bank in 1970 and re-named it Kenya Commercial Bank (now KCB Group Plc)
2. In 1998, the Government sold 20% of its shares at the NSE through an IPO that saw 120,000 new shareholders acquire the company
3. The Government sold 10%, 10% and 25% in 1990,1996 and 1998 respectively, reducing its shareholding to 35%
4. A series of rights issues in 2004, 2008 and 2010 were conducted by the company, with proceeds channeled towards growing the business and financing regional expansion. The Government opted not to take up its rights effectively diluting its ownership to 26.2%, 23.6% and 17.3% respectively
5. The Board in 2016 introduced a scrip dividend where shareholders received dividends partly in cash and partly as additional shares. The Government took up this offer, marginally increasing its shareholding to the current level of 17.5%.
6. In 2019, KCB Group Plc concluded the acquisition of National Bank of Kenya via swap shares. From the transaction, the C.S. National Treasury, being a shareholder of National Bank, received additional KCB Group Plc shares increasing the total shareholding from 17.5% to 19.76%.
Simeon Rono has over 20 years’ experience in banking having previously worked in various capacities at the Central Bank of Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Hons.), Marketing Option, from the University of Nairobi. He. He has attended several courses, both locally and internationally in banking, corporate management and regulatory oversight.
Simeon has a wealth of knowledge and experience in financial management, Anti Money laundering (AML) controls, internal controls, risk management and regulatory oversight. He is also well versed with the formulation of management policies and is a keen promoter of social and economic development.
Simeon is a founder and director of several companies engaged in the hospitality industry.
Mrs Njeri Onyango a graduate of the University of Nairobi, is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with 30 years’ experience in legal practise. She has engaged in broad practise of law such as civil and criminal litigation, arbitration, commercial law, property transactions, labour relations and sports law. She is a Certified Professional Mediator having received her certification from the Mediation Training Institute International (MTI). Mrs Onyango has also done remarkable consultancy services with a wide range of institutions. She has chaired legal, constitutional and disciplinary committees in various sports federations and has participated in constitution writing and reviews for federations such as Tennis Kenya and Kenya Volleyball Federation. She has served in various international disciplinary and legal tribunals such as The World Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the World Swimming Federation. (FINA)
She was appointed as a legal consultant for The Ministry of Youth Sports, Culture and The Arts to offer consultancy services to the Ministry on the Kenya Anti Doping Bill and Policy, which become the Kenya Anti Doping Act, 2016. She has also acted as a legal consultant for the Kenya Anti-Doping Agency (KADA); she chaired the Legal Committee of KADA in the preparation of the Rules for Anti-Doping in Sports in Kenya that were consequently approved and adopted by the world Anti-Doping Agency. She has provided legal consultancy services to a number of NGOs. Mrs Onyango is currently a Board member of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and a member of the Kenya Sports Disputes Tribunal.
Mrs Onyango is a member a number of professional bodies such as the Law Society of Kenya, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators both, International Bar Association, International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).
Caroline Okong’o has over 20 years’ experience in finance, risk, audit, strategy development and implementation support. She is a results-oriented leader with a history of achieving excellence and impact through teams.
Having worked both locally and internationally, Caroline has had multi-jurisdiction exposure dealing with various regulatory reporting requirements in the financial services sector. She has held leadership roles in various organizations which include Assistant Vice President at Willis Management (Bermuda), Director at Lattice Consulting Limited and Senior Manager at Deloitte where she worked in both East Africa and Bermuda.
Caroline holds a Bachelor of Arts in Building Economics from the University of Nairobi, is a CPA (K) member of ICPAK, and a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) accredited by the International Coaching Federation. She runs an advisory consulting and coaching practice.
Caroline is an Independent Non-Executive Board Member at Prudential Life Assurance Kenya Limited, and a Non-Executive Board Member of WWF Kenya.
Joseph is a certified public accountant with vast experience spanning over 30 years in audit, tax and financial advisory services. Joseph is the founding partner of Muigai & Associates; a leading accountancy firm in Kenya that has served local and international organisations cutting across multiple industries and sectors. Previously held roles include Treasurer at Karen Country Club, Technical Partner at Kangethe & Associates, and Senior Audit Manager at Deloitte. Joseph holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the United States International University (USIU) and is a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
Joseph serves as the Chairman of KCB Bank Burundi and the Audit Committee Chair of KCB Bank Kenya.
Anne has an MBA (Distinction) from the University of Warwick and is a Fellow of the Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants (FCCA) and a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Accountants of Kenya (FCPA). She has led provision of audit and related advisory matters services to a wide range of regional and local organisations in various sectors. She recently retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), after 40 years, where she was the Regional Senior Partner and CEO for Eastern Africa and Senior Country Partner Kenya, overseeing 1,500 employees in six African countries. She is widely recognized as one of Africa’s leading professionals in the industry.
She has advised Audit Committees and Boards on financial reporting and internal control matters, including risk and readiness assessment prior to implementation of major financial systems and processes. She serves in non-executive director positions on several boards, provides financial advice at a strategic level and mentors entrepreneurs.
Eunice is a holder of Master of Science in Marketing (MSc) from University of Glamorgan, Wales UK and Post-graduate Diploma from Chartered Institute of Marketing, (CIM) UK. She is a certified Executive Coach Practitioner from Academy of Executive Coaching (AoEC), UK being a diploma holder in this field. In addition, she is a Vital Voices Leadership Fellow and a member of WCD Global, the world’s largest membership organization of women directors. She is an alumni of Strathmore University Business School, Women Directors Leadership Summit (WDLS), a corporate governance program in partnership with Cranefield University, UK.
She has 27 years of commercial financial services, leadership experience and executive coaching having worked for multi-national organizations in the corporate sector, with a great track record of ‘Firsts’ that have remained key milestones in her corporate career. She worked at Absa Bank Kenya Ltd (formerly Barclays Bank Kenya), Barclays Bank Head Office in London, UK and Barclaycard International where she was responsible for a number of countries in Africa. She later worked for G4S Kenya at executive level as Commercial Director.
Eunice is an adjunct Executive Coach at Strathmore University Business School and a seasoned entrepreneur in niche sectors, with focus on corporate soft skills development. She has been instrumental in the training of ambassadors & diplomats at Foreign Service Academy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She previously served as Business Advisor Goldman Sachs 10K Women program at United States International University (USIU) Africa, offering business advisory services to entrepreneurs. Her entrepreneurship skills drawn from Babson College, USA and MCTC Israel.
She has a number of past and active roles on board service as both Chair and Non-Executive Director (NED) for financial institutions, global listed companies and Not-For-Profit organizations, being an alumni of corporate governance training (WDLS She is a member of Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) Foundation where she serves on the Anti-Corruption Multi Sectorial Steering Committee.
Bonnie is the Group General Counsel, KCB Bank Kenya. She was appointed to the role in July 2018. Before the appointment, she was serving as the Head, Legal Services since January 2014. She has served as Company Secretary for KCB Bank Kenya since January 2016.
Before joining KCB, she was the Chief Legal and Regulatory Affairs Officer and Company Secretary at Telkom Kenya Limited. Prior to this she was the General Counsel and Company Secretary at Unilever Kenya Limited where she oversaw the legal and company secretarial functions for 9 operating companies in 7 countries in East and Southern Africa. Until she joined Unilever, she was the Regional Legal Manager for Nestle where she set up the legal department and led a team of lawyers in providing legal and tax advisory services to 14 operating entities in 20 countries in the Equatorial African Region.
Earlier in her career, she was an associate at Hamilton & Mathews where she represented clients including banks, insurance companies and consumer goods companies. She holds an LL.B from the University of Nairobi, is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya as well as a Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K).
Paul Russo, EBS, is the Chief Executive Officer of KCB Group PLC, appointed in May 2022. He is a member of the Boards of KCB Group PLC, KCB Bank Kenya, National Bank of Kenya (NBK) and BPR Bank Rwanda Plc. He is also a member of the Kenya Bankers Association Governing Council, the banking industry lobbying arm.
Paul sits in the Boards of the National Investment Council and the National Steering Committee on Drought Response, appointed by Kenya’s President William Ruto. He is also a member of Steering Committee for the World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally Project.
He was feted with a state commendation- Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) by the President for his immense contribution in Kenya’s financial services sector. He also serves in the United Nations Environment Programme Finance (UNEP-FI) Leadership Council, joining other global leaders in mainstreaming and deepening sustainability integration across the financial industry.
Paul is responsible for overseeing the transformation of KCB Group into the undisputed leader in the financial services sector and a customer-focused financial powerhouse. He has extensive experience in banking, strategy, operational and people management. He has been involved in the running key strategic assignments within the Group, including serving as receiver manager for Chase Bank (in Receivership), leading NBK’s turnaround strategy as the MD NBK, and looking after the KCB Group’s international subsidiaries.
Previously, he served as the Regional Business Director, KCB Group Plc, and the MD NBK. A HR practioner, he has close to 25 years of work experience spanning executive and key roles including Group HR Director, KCB. He has served in other big corporates such as Barclays, PwC, K-Rep Bank, EABL, and Unga Holdings. He holds an MBA from Strathmore University Business School and a Bachelor of Business Management from Moi University. He also has a senior executive program for Africa Certificate from Harvard Business School.
Lawrence Kimathi holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with a merit from Warwick Business School UK, a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in accounting from United States International University – Africa (USIU) and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya, CPA (K). He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya and Institute of Directors. His senior leadership experience spans over 25 years having worked as Finance Director/CFO in a number of multinational organizations which include Cadbury East and Central Africa, AIG, East Africa Breweries Limited, BAT Sub Sahara Africa and BAT PLC in London.

He has over 19 years’ of work experience spanning executive and key roles including Africa Regional HR Director (Allianz Africa), Group HR Business Manager – Operations and Technology and Head of HR eProcess International (Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, Accra-Ghana), Head of HR Operations & Employee Shared Services (Safaricom Ltd), West & Central Africa Human Resource Head (Citibank N.A Ltd, Dakar, Senegal), Senior Division Human Resource Generalist- Sub Sahara Africa Division (Citibank N.A Ltd, Johannesburg, South Africa), Acting Country Human Resource Officer (CHRO) - Citibank Tanzania (Citibank N.A Ltd, Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania) and Compensation and Benefits Manager – Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda (Citibank N.A Ltd, Nairobi, Kenya).
Japheth holds a Master’s degree of Science (Human Resource Management & Training) from University of Leicester – London, UK; Post Graduate Certificate (Human Resource Management) from university of Wales – London, UK and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed. Science) from Kenyatta university – Nairobi, Kenya.
Dr. Leonard Mwithiga has a cumulative career experience spanning over 25 years, prior to his current appointment, he was the Director, Information Technology at KCB and National Bank of Kenya, immediately after its acquisition by the KCB Group.
Before joining the KCB Group, he executed senior management roles in Technology, Service Delivery, Strategic Change Management and Banking Operations, working across International, Regional, National Financial and Banking Institutions, namely Barclays Bank, Central Depository and Settlement Corporation (CDSC), Equity Bank and Chase Bank. He is a holder of a PhD Degree in Business Administration, with a specialization in Strategic Information Systems Management and Banking, MBA postgraduate degree in Management Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics Major. He has also undertaken numerous technical and executive professional courses.
Dr. Leonard Mwithiga is a seasoned and passionate transformational leader, with a focus on Service Delivery.
John joined KCB in 1990 as a management trainee and has served in various roles including Head of Portfolio Management and Senior Credit Analyst. Prior to his current appointment in August 18th 2017 as the KCB Group Chief Risk Officer, John was the Acting Chief Risk Officer and previously the Head of Lending Risk Acting Director- Risk. He is a graduate of Economics from SGGS College , New Delhi and BA in Banking and Finance, University of Sunderland . In his current position, John is responsible for coordinating the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management framework and ensuring full compliance with applicable regulation.
Rosalind was appointed the Group Director Marketing & Communication, KCB Group PLC on August 9th, 2021. She has a career spanning over 21 years, having served in various local and international corporations.
Rosalind joined KCB from NCBA Group PLC where she has been serving in a similar capacity since 2019. She has previously worked for NIC Group PLC, Coca-Cola SABCO (now Coca-Cola Beverages Africa), The Coca-Cola Company, and The Gillette Company (now Proctor and Gamble).
She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Northeastern University, Boston, USA and a Bachelor of Commerce (General Management) from McMaster University Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She is also a Certified Executive Coach by the Academy of Executive Coaching, United Kingdom.
Bernard has 19 years working experience in the Banking Industry in Senior Management roles. He previously worked with Standard Chartered Bank, and Barclays Bank of Kenya (ABSA), mostly in Credit Risk Management.
In KCB Kenya, Bernard has been serving as Head of Credit Support Unit, which is responsible for overall management of the bank’s credit facilities to prevent deterioration and improve KCB Group’s lending portfolio.
He has an Executive MBA from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Bachelor of Science Degree from Moi University and a host of professional qualifications.
