Head, Corporate Liabilities & Foreign Currency Client Business

Reporting to the Director – Corporate Banking, this position is responsible for formulating and driving the liabilities’ strategy, sales, growth, profitability, and relevant market share in collaboration with the other revenue and enabling functions of the Bank. The Head of Corporate liabilities and foreign currency client business plays a pivotal role in driving the growth of deposits and expanding the reach of corporate banking solutions for KCB Bank Kenya. Limited. This strategic leadership position involves developing and implementing effective strategies to attract and retain depositors, as well as deepening corporate banking relationships and partnerships. The role shall primarily be responsible for foreign currency mobilization from corporate customers, non-governmental organizations, professional bodies, foreign missions, religious organizations, and non-bank financial Institutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to attract and mobilize deposits.
  • Ensure liabilities’ growth through revenue maximization and prudent cost management. 
  • Identify and acquire new foreign currency business opportunities to achieve revenue growth.
  • Retain and grow existing liability and foreign currency business in line with Corporate Banking Strategy.
  • Support the delivery, availability, and visibility of foreign currency products across the value chain and contribute to new product development/customization for Corporate Banking segment.
  • Ensure strong cross- selling of bank products to existing and new clients; and in this process, maintain effective liaison with all relevant business units in the Bank. 
  • Develop and maintain productive strategic relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Champion the delivery of consistent, seamless and trusted customer experience to ensure client retention and loyalty. 
  • Provide input to the Asset and Liability Management Committee and actively ensure adherence to guidelines. 
  • Maintain a detailed and current understanding of the industry; (at a macro, sector specific, current market structures; regulatory requirements and issues) to ensure opportunities maximization and risk mitigation. 
  • Ensure compliance with Bank’s policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Lead, motivate, and continuously develop a credible high performing team.

The Person

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:

  • A University degree in business or related field from a recognized institution.
  • Postgraduate and/or banking qualifications will be an added advantage. 
  • At least 8 years’ relevant experience (preferably from large organizations) in corporate banking, banking operations, and customer service, with at least 6 years’ experience in senior leadership positions.
  • Sound understanding of value chain banking, corporate products, and foreign currency flows/solutions.
  • Track record of attaining targets of business growth and profitability in deposits/foreign currency within the banking sector.
  • Have an appreciation and operating knowledge of the banking industry, regulation, market, trends as well as opportunities and challenges. 
  • Demonstrable innovation orientation to ensure that the Bank remains on the cutting edge of provision of Corporate Banking and foreign currency solutions.
  • Demonstrable cross-cultural, relationship management skills, networking, and negotiation skills. 
  • Sound understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements of corporate governance, business, and banking operations.
  • Excellent people management skills including a strong talent development focus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
