Head of Marketing – Business and Non-Business Functions

Reporting to the Group Director; Marketing and Communications, this role will be to lead the translation of KCB Group Brand Purpose and Strategy into actionable brand plans across all products and services offered through various Business and Non-Business units within KCB Group namely Corporate Banking, Retail Banking, and internal Non-Business Divisions etc.

KCB Brand is on journey to “Build a Regional Powerhouse Brand” and as such the incumbent will be expected to build out and drive an insight led co-creation of Brand Business and Non-Business unit strategies by translating objectives and priorities into effective and holistic Brand Marketing and Communication plans.

The incumbent will be directly responsible for a team of at least 14 who hold various brand roles to develop and implement strategies and initiatives for both Business and Non-Business Functions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • A visionary, provide leadership, strategic direction and management within the Marketing Department supporting Business and Non-Business Units and ensure alignment of the activities with the overall Group Strategy and Brand guidelines.
  • Work with local and international subsidiary Marketing & Communication teams to develop a Group Center of Excellence supporting marketing strategy development and implementation of campaigns for key customer value propositions supporting groupwide execution in order to build a truly regional powerhouse brand.
  • Lead the development of annual Marketing and Communication plans to support all Business Units to drive growth and usage and engage cross functional teams in the development & implementation of the plans. While doing so, work with Business Units across the Group in design and development of innovative products and services that are responsive to market needs, as well as refining existing products in response to market and customer dynamics.
  • Support the Business units to achieve the Group banking value targets (assets & liabilities) annually by providing adequate brand support to the various business products and services. 
  • Work collaboratively with the team and other Business and Non-Business Functions to design effective and efficient strategies and initiatives for product and service and the execution of the same in line with the overall corporate brand purpose and values across the KCB Group.
  • Effective management of the budget allocated adherence to policies and process and Service Level Agreements with all key stakeholders.
  • To work with the Insights lead, Data Analysts supporting Business units and the Group Strategy team to ensure effective integration of consumer / customer / market insights and intelligence within the plans supporting our products and services. 
  • Curiously monitor market dynamics on banking and financial services products and services across the Group, including competitor analysis on product introduction, promotional activities and tariffs on all product/service categories to enhance effective benchmarking, planning and competitive alignment of the Bank’s products and services.
  • Ensure internal brand alignment in support staff campaigns or engagement platforms in a bid to truly position KCB as an Employer of Choice.
  • Work with the team to build capacity and inspire and guide the team to become a truly world class marketing team through on-going mentorship and coaching while ensuring continuous and ongoing talent development and capacity building.  

The Person

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Management, or any other related field.
  • A professional certification in CIM or any other marketing qualification.
  •  Master's degree in business administration or any related field is an added advantage.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in Marketing and Brand Management.
  • At least 8 years’ experience in leading teams.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in Product Development.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Digital Marketing, Market Research and Analytics and Marketing Agency Management.
