Safeguarding Manager

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Risk and Compliance Manager, the safeguarding Manager will lead mainstreaming of safeguarding throughout the KCB Foundation’s operations. This will include amongst others, safeguarding planning, and implementation, supporting compliance to safeguarding policies, operational procedures and other guidelines, capacity building on safeguarding, risk management, meeting donor compliance as well as establishing metrics for assessing safeguarding interventions.

Key Responsibilities

1) Policy Development and Implementation:

  • Champion safeguarding policies and procedures, including strong advocacy for safeguarding across all levels of KCBF operations to enhance mainstreaming of safeguarding across all KCBF and programs.
  • Support the development, review, updating and communication of KCBF safeguarding policies, procedures and other guidelines.
  • Ensure overall compliance to these guidelines by staff, volunteers, grantees, stakeholders and contractors.

2) Training and Capacity Building:

  • Provide quality and accessible advice, support and guidance to managers and staff through supporting the effort for adequate safeguarding measures are integrated into office operations, processes and KCBF projects as outlined by KCB Group and KCBF safeguarding guidelines.
  • Partner with KCBF projects teams and all KCBF projects implementing partners to enhance safeguarding awareness-raising within the KCB Group as well as in communities where KCBF operates.
  • Serve as technical lead on safeguarding matters during all KCBF projects design, proposal formulation, donor compliance, etc, as well as during KCBF strategy development.

3) Incident Management and Reporting:

  • Serve as the central reporting avenue for safeguarding related issues, concerns or experiences and foster an environment where all potential safeguarding incidents are reported as per KCB Group and KCBF safeguarding policies.
  • Create, support, and nurture a network of safeguarding focal points across KCBF projects touch points as well as develop reporting mechanisms in collaboration with KCBF monitoring and evaluation function.
  • In event of safeguarding investigations, provide advice on case assessment and recommendations, and support fact-gathering under in consultation with the relevant investigation teams within KCB Group, KCBF and any other external investigators as may be necessary.

4) Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Develop, review and manage appropriate mechanisms and tools to support reporting of safeguarding cases, progress/performance reporting, risk analysis as well as managing relationship with safeguarding service providers contracted by KCBF.
  • Establish annual safeguarding implementation plan for the Foundation and monitors progress against plan.

The Person

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Any field
  • Professional Qualifications Safeguarding-specific trainings
  • Master's degree is an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years’ Safeguarding case management.
  • At least 5 years in Humanitarian/social work
  • At least 3 years Training/facilitation
