Kenya 7s captain and KCB Player Andrew Amonde was elated after receiving the Head of State Commendation from President Kenyatta alongside other sports personalities on 20th December. Amonde was awarded the Head of States Commendation (HSC) Civilian Division for his service to Kenya Rugby both in 7s and 15s.
The KCB backrow has played at 72 tournaments at the World Sevens Series; 341 matches scoring 305 points from 61 tries.
"It's very exciting yet humbling to receive this recognition from His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta. KCB has shaped my rugby career and I am grateful to God for the award, “said Amonde.
Amonde will skipper the national 7s side during the third and fourth legs of the HSBC series slated to take place in New Zealand and Australia in the Oceania region in January and February 2020.
