KCB FC’s Richard Omondi netted his first goal for the club to hand the Bankers a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kariobangi Sharks in a SportPesa Premier League match at the Kasarani Annex on Tuesday afternoon.
Omondi struck in the 36th minute after a neat build-up that saw December Kisakah pick out captain Humphrey Mieno, who unselfishly teed up the forward to slot home what proved to be the winner.
The goal marks Omondi’s maiden strike since joining KCB from League Two outfit Leads United during the last transfer window.
The Bankers now move to six points from their opening three games of the campaign, following up their 2-0 win over Tusker in the season opener and a narrow 1-0 defeat to Mathare United.
Speaking after the game, KCB FC assistant coach Paul Ogai said, “It was a tough match, but the boys showed great character and discipline. Richard has been working hard in training, and we are delighted to see him get his first goal. This win gives us momentum, and we will keep pushing to maintain consistency as the season unfolds.”
On his part, the elated Omondi said, “I am really happy to score my first goal for KCB. As a player, it feels good to get off the mark, but more importantly, I am glad it helped the team secure three points. The support from my teammates has been fantastic, and I believe we can build on this performance as the season progresses.”
The team will face Gor Mahia FC in their next match on Sunday at Dandora Stadium.
